Customers at a Chinese restaurant were shocked when a headless "zombie" frog jumped out of a pot of hot chilli oil onto the table. A customer had ordered a local delicacy with bullfrogs marinated in chilli oil and peppercorns.
After the delicacy arrived at his table, he was shocked when he noticed that one of the headless frogs began twitching and it hopped out of the pot as if it was trying to escape.
The incident occurred in a restaurant in Chengdu city in southwest China’s Sichuan province, reported news organisation News. This entertaining incident was caught on video and it was later shared on the Chinese version of TikTok, Douyin.
In the video of the incident, the headless, skinned frog is on the customer’s plate along with his other food items. But, when zoomed in, the frog is twitching and its legs are moving back and forth.
Soon, the frog’s twitching gets faster and it suddenly hops off the plate and lands on the table, as if it was trying to escape. Even after landing on the table, its legs continued to twitch for a few seconds.
The clip reportedly spread like wildfire on Douyin, the Chinese equivalent of TikTok. Many even thought of giving up on meat and going vegan. But News 18 reported that one user even joked about it, saying the restaurant served “fresh food” to customers.
However, this isn’t the first time that an animal meant to be consumed jumped out of a plate. Earlier, a fish had leapt out of a bowl at a Chinese restaurant.
