My name is Sharon Campbell-Phillips. I am from Trinidad and Tobago. I am very enthusiastic about community work and the development of others. I am also very passionate about conducting research as it allows me the opportunity to share my knowledge with others and educate them as well as enhance and develop myself.
I am currently employed with the local government of Trinidad and Tobago where I work at the Division of Community Development. This Division is dedicated to developing communities sothat persons standard of living can be enhanced.I am also a researcher. My research career began when I was approached by a classmate from Bangladesh to collaborate and write professionally. I accepted the challenge and we began writing. When I received my first publication, I was very excited and was motivated to continue writing.
I gained my knowledge about research and understood it clearly when I began my Master's degree at the University of the People, after which I pursued a PhD at the University of Oxford. I am very grateful for all the knowledge that I have acquired so that I can impart it unto others. University of the People belongs to the Library and Information Resource Network (LIRN), a consortium of institutions that makes available to its members a rich and powerful collection of resources including over 60 million journal articles, books, encyclopedias, newspapersmagazines, and audio and video clips. Students gain access to the ProQuest online databases and GALE databases through LIRN.
University of the People also subscribes to JSTOR giving students online access to a wide array of journals to support research, writing and learning activities. JSTOR too can be accessed directly within Moodle and includes access to more than 2,300 academic journals and more than50 million digitized pages.
All University of the People instructional personnel and enrolled students may use theseresources free of charge. Additionally, students are provided at no charge with other open education resources including textbooks and course materials. This university is accredited and certainly requires hard work and hours of studying. I truly appreciate the flexibility that it offers me so that I can continue working while I study. Also, Oxford is a world-leading centre of learning, teaching and research and the oldest university in the English-speaking world and it has a distinctive collegiate structure. This university caters to students from across the globe and gives equal support to each student. The university has well-organized tutorial teaching for all educational levels. This was a great experience for me to be able to work with like-minded students.

My experience at oxford will always be remembered; it has equipped me with the knowledge and skills that is required to establish change within my community. It had also taught me to think critically and to be disciplined. Being an employee while studying is very challenging, however, I remained focused, I skillfully managed my time and I successfully completed my course of study.
With the amazing academic opportunities offered at Oxford and with its high reputation simply means that the university is still among the top universities in the world. Oxford is known for excellent student satisfaction, world-leading quality of research, and high teaching standards are a strong testament to its dedication to its students. The University also offers a wealth of provisions for supporting students in their academic studies and beyond. After my first publication, I continued writing, and now I am the author of thirteen published articles and currently, I am engaged in writing books. My intentions are to continue my career in research, continue to promote the importance of it and help in developing our younger generation.
Conducting research has been very exciting and rewarding for me; within the first few months of my writing, I was selected for a prestigious award with RULA, and I captured the title of International Distinguished Researcher. I was elated to share the same stage with other top researchers in the world and I was strengthened by the fact that it doesn't matter where you are located in the world, success is available if you so desire it. I am also honored to be nominated for another award with RULA for the 2021 award ceremony. This award is titled, 'Outstanding Psychology Award', and it is a clear indication of high-quality work, dedication, commitment and passion.
Being selected for another prestigious award especially coming from RULA make me feel extremely happy and proud of my achievement. It is a huge honor for me to receive this award and represent my country again and the entire Caribbean. I am overwhelmed with joy as my hard work is being recognized globally. Research improves services and treatments not just for the researchers but also for future generations. It helps to develop new tests for diagnosis, treatments and processes that could eventually help our children. Research also helps persons to gain access to treatments that are not yet readily available to the general public.
I am one of the world's top researchers and I am very proud of the work that I have done. I will continue to make great contributions as I represent my beautiful country of Trinidad and Tobago, and the Caribbean by extension.
