India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. The two leaders discussed the ongoing military standoff between the Indian Army and the PLA of China at the LAC in Ladakh.

Dushanbe (Tajikistan): India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. 

The two leaders discussed the ongoing military standoff between the Indian Army and the PLA of China at the LAC in Ladakh.

"Discussed the withdrawal of forces in our border areas. Emphasizing that progress in this regard is essential for the restoration of peace and tranquility, which is the basis for the development of bilateral relations," Jaishankar tweeted.

The two leaders discussed border tensions and the military standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) at the LAC in Ladakh. They also exchanged views on global development.

Jaishankar asserted that India does not subscribe to any conflict of civilizations theory. 

"It is also necessary that China does not look at its relations with India from the perspective of any third country," he added.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, "During his meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister, Jaishankar underlined that it is necessary to ensure progress in resolving the remaining issues so that peace can be restored along the LAC in eastern Ladakh."
