Ihsaan Ahmed Hameed has bagged Asia's Best Social Worker Award

I take this opportunity to thank the Management Committee of World Research Congress for selecting me to this prestigious life time “Asia Award” and anxiously waiting for the Big Day to come.

I myself, Ihsaan A. Hameed, born in a middle-income family from the Town of Badulla from the lower central hills, famous for the world-renowned water fall called Dun Hinda Falls, around 230 kilometers away from the capital of Sri Lanka. I was the 2^nd in the family of 02 siblings. My parents, fathers Mr. Zawahir Hameed and mother Jannathul Naeema Jamaldeen.  I was born on 03^rd March, 1975. I am happily married to Ms. Sitthy Misja Ihsaan having 05 children, on which the elder at his early teen and the younger in the 02nd standard. Must not forget to mention that my life partner has made all sacrifice on behalf of me to come to this Position in my Life.   

I started my schooling at a leading Buddhist School in Badulla called Dharmadutha College which is 132 years old now. Left schooling after my GCE (O/L) in 1991 and the GCE (A/L) in 1994 at the same college. After completion of my college, started my careers in the filed of sales and marketing and did first stage of CIM in Sri Lanka.  Presently I am the General Treasurer of the College Old Boys Football Association and the Assistant Treasurer of the College Old Boys Association. From the time of schooling I was helping out my colleagues when in need, which made me interest in Social Working.

After a long tireless effort in the sales and marketing field, with the experience and reputation I started by own distribution and dealer company in Badulla called HNR Trading Company, in which I am the Managing Director.

“Social Worker” started after a co-incident, which made me actively participating with the All Ceylon YMMA Conference, Badulla Branch from 1992 and elected to the highest position of the Organization as “NATIONAL PRESIDENT” in 2022 to serve the community.

Starting as a committee member of YMMA Badulla branch in 1992, with my career, I went around in help out the committee in general. With my hard work and trust kept with the human, I was elected as the President of the Badulla YMMA Branch in 2008. Being the President of Badulla YMMA, I initiated and with the support of the well-wishers to build the indoor Badminton Court, which today generates a permanent income of Rs. 60,000.00 to 80,000.00 for the Branch.

From 2009 to 2011, was an active Past President and member of the Board of Trustees of the Branch. In 2012, with much demand from the committee members I was re-elected as the Treasurer of the Branch and awarded the BEST TREASURER-ALL ISLAND by the ACYMMAC Annual Convention, selected from the participation of more than 100 branches island wide. In 2013 I was elected to the position of Badulla Branch General Secretary and in 2015 was elected as President Badulla YMMA Branch.  Awarded the BEST PRESIDENT-ALL ISLAND in 2015, selected from the participation of more than 115 branches island wide.

I was the Project Chairman in 2016 for Youth Empowerment of the organization and year 2017, 2018, 2019 elected as Sports Chairman which made me to introduce the Annual Football Tournament with in the Branches and awarded the prestigious Dr. A.M.A. Azeez Challenge Trophy.

Year 2020, I was selected the National General Treasure and Year 2021 made me the Vice President of the Organization.

The All Ceylon Young Men Muslim Association Conference is a National Youth & Youth Serving Community Based Organization, providing leadership in building a strong Socio-Economic Development Institution and to serve the Community and the Country. We have a network of more than 173 Member YMMA Branches throughout the country with more than 10,000 members.  We are an Incorporated Body established by an Act of Parliament No. 31 of 1968 as a Government approved Non-Profitable / Non-Political Charitable Organization founded on 30 April 1950 by late Dr. A.M.A. Azeez, educationist, First Muslim Civil Servant and former Senator.

The vision of the All Ceylon YMMA Conference (ACYMMAC) is to be a vibrant National Youth and Youth Serving Community Based Organization, giving leadership in building a strong Socio-Economic Development Institution and to serve the under privilege & needy community.

The Mission of the ACYMMAC it to provide the best possible service to the community directly or through the Member YMMA’s by mobilizing the organizations resources with the objective of raising the Economic Standards of the have nots, alleviating poverty, training, guiding the youth to be a good citizen with education as the primary objective and to play a dominant role in settling community issues, social justice and promoting inter communal amity.

Today as the National President of the organization, I have initiated the following projects which have made the unknown to realized the power of social moments.

For our National Building Project, we have launched “A Tree for Life” campaign for year 2023 in collaboration with our island wide branch network, supported by the Central Environmental Authority and State Timber Corporation of Sri Lanka with an aim of planting 50,000 Coconut and Kaya Tree saplings planting campaign, which is worth more than Rs 20 million.

Education and Technical Training centre re-launched at the Headquarters for the under privileged and low-income students.

Scholarship for students with the sponsorship from leading institutes of Sri Lanka
